BIOGRAPHY

Tariq Fedda (b. 1982) lives and works in Ibiza, Spain, where he concurrently practices art as well as law. His millennial-nomadic path has crossed careers across the Middle East, Europe and the United States. Due to his formal training in logic and as a lawyer, his approach to art is intellectual and placed in a societal context. At present, his art practice is focused on visual conceptual art with socio-political themes, such as the pandemic, immigration, climate change, materialism, technology, and others.

Artist Statement

The power of art to turn an idea into a feeling is why I do it.  I believe my art has its genesis in the multiverse, the realm of infinite possibility. It’s not art for art’s sake, rather it’s art for our sake. I see my role as a versatile tool that allows art to happen, by coincidence in parallel with intention.  I adhere to the principles of the Excessivism movement, particularly applied to the excesses of today’s ‘cult of the artist’. My view is that for true art to manifest, it must be valued at the very least by its creator, no matter how self-deprecating the artist may seem to be. It matters not if the art appeals to just one person, but it must mean something, anything, to somebody, anybody (and the more, the better); otherwise the artist is just lost in their own universe. I seek to create art that has meaning to as many people as I can, indeed art that appeals to the multiverse with versatility, so that it may reflect the human condition as infinitely as I am able.
